WHAT IS CBD?

WHAT IS CBD?

CBD, short for cannabidiol, is one of 100+ compounds found in the cannabis plant. CBD is a non-intoxicating cannabinoid with the ability to imitate our already produced endocannabinoids to bind to cannabinoid receptors within our Endocannabinoid System (ECS).

Nature's Highway's product are 100% all organic and we take pride in that.

WHY TAKE CBD?

CBD and full-spectrum extracts are used by many people for many different reasons. Some have specific issues and are seeking alternative support while others simply take CBD to support overall wellness. Some other benefits of CBD have been noted as a sense of calmness and focus, aiding in exercise recovery, support for a good night’s rest, relief from everyday stressors.

WHY FULL-SPECTRUM?

CBD is just one of 100+ compounds found in the cannabis plant. Full-spectrum, or whole-plant extracts, contain all terpenes, flavonoids, vitamins, proteins, and minerals from the hemp plant. These compounds work together to multiply the potential benefits when using full-spectrum infused products and supplements. Scientists refer to this as the Entourage Effect and have found there truly is strength in numbers when it comes to the power of these plant based supplements.

All of Nature’s Highway products and supplements are infused with full-spectrum extracts. We use every bit of goodness we can from our Carolina grown hemp.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the Endocannabinoid System?

The Endocannabinoid System (ECS) is a network of millions of cannabinoid receptors throughout our bodies that help to regulate many of our bodily systems to maintain balance, or homeostasis. While almost every organ in the human body has cannabinoid receptors, they are primarily found in the brain and central nervous system. ECS cannabinoid receptors interpret conditions outside of our body’s cells and inform the cells about changing conditions. Our body creates endocannabinoids that bind to these receptors to carry out a specific purpose in efforts to restore balance.

The ECS is comprised of three key pieces; cannabinoid receptors, endocannabinoids, and enzymes. Receptors interpret conditions outside of our body’s cells and inform the cells about changing conditions. Endocannabinoids are molecules that are created to serve a specific purpose and carry out that purpose by binding to our cannabinoid receptors. Enzymes simply break down endocannabinoids once they’ve carried out their purpose.

Will CBD get me high?

No way! While Cannabis plants share similar properties, CBD and THC are different compounds found within these plants. Unlike THC, CBD from hemp does not produce the psychoactive effect, or “high” associated with marijuana use.

Cannabis. Hemp. Marijuana. What’s the difference?

Cannabis is a genus of flowering plants which consists of three primary species: Cannabis indica, Cannabis sativa, and Cannabis ruderalis. Hemp and Marijuana? Neither are actually a species of cannabis but rather terms used to classify Cannabis species by their psychoactive properties. Hemp is a term used to classify Cannabis that contains less than 0.3% THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) or non-intoxicating Cannabis. Marijuana is a term used to classify Cannabis that contains more than 0.3% THC which can cause intoxicating effects or a “high”.

What does full-spectrum mean?

Full-spectrum extracts contain all cannabinoids. terpenes, flavonoids, vitamins, proteins, and minerals from the hemp plant. These compounds work together to multiply the potential benefits when using full-spectrum products and supplements - scientists refer to this as the Entourage Effect.

Is CBD legal?

CBD extracted from industrial hemp plants, or Cannabis plants containing less than 0.3% THC, is considered federally legal in all 50 states.

How do I know what product or dosage is right for me?

Cannabinoids work differently in everyone. We suggest starting low and slow with dosage and listen to your body to feel what works for you. When adding something new to your wellness routine, we suggest consistently using a product or supplement for 30 days before evaluating your results.
